getting ready to launch for our 10th full season and I want to thank you for such a great job on our motor and battery system. Everything is perfect and working flawlessly with zero maintenance.
I just love the CALB battery pack- I disconnect in the fall and measure voltage and state of charge. Then in the spring I reconnect and everything is exactly as I left it. It doesn’t matter if I left it at 50% SOC or 90% the battery in the spring is exactly like it was in the fall.
The 5kW motor at full power drives the boat at 5.5 knots, a little less than hull speed but plenty of speed. Last year in near gale conditions we left the marina (with a scared Joanne at the helm) was able to raise the main while full power kept us at 2.5 knots into the wind and waves. Yes it was an exciting ride at the mast raising the double reefed main while the motor did its job. We then went surfing down wave fronts at 9 knots with a storm jib also set.
Based on the past nine years of cruising I am confident we can go out for 7 to 10 days without any concerns on battery capacity.
